YMCA Spring Break Workshops
Dates: April 13, 14, & 15 (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
1. The Art of Origami (April 13)
Through playful magic the creativity of paper brings us to a world of
beauty. Create a 3-dimensional object using geometric folds and crease patterns
without using glue or cutting the paper. Join us and be delighted and amazed by
the wonderful things you can create. Just bring your imagination.
2.
The Art of Chinese Calligraphy (April 14)
The art of Chinese Calligraphy has a history
going back more than 3,000 years. In this class we will learn brush techniques
that are both ancient and modern. Participants will be introduced to the union
between hand, brush and paper leading to inner tranquility and the creation of
beautiful art.
3. Mini Chinese Fine Art Bookbinding ( April 15)
Creating fine art books is an ancient Asian tradition. In this workshop
we will use traditional and natural materials to create art books. Starting
with the stitched books in rice paper with decorative cover paper from China
Japan and Taiwan…., students can create one of a kind fine art books that can
be used for drawing, painting, poetry, note keeping or scrap-booking.
