The Chinese words and sentences are spirally built on what they learned in the previous volume. In other words, students will take what they have learned and will use them in more complex sentences, phrases, and conversation. Students are expected to speak longer sentence and ask simple questions on familiar topics. Students will continue to learn different parts of a Chinese character and in turn know how to de-compose a character when asked to write to talk about things they do every day, including school life, food, hobbies and rooms and locations. Students will understand and speak a total of about 300 Chinese words, and will be able to read and write about 200 Chinese characters.
