I come from a family of teachers in China. I have always wanted to be a teacher and truly enjoy the profession. My approach to education is child-centered and I reach out to each child in an effort to help each find fun and joy in Mandarin learning. I truly enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds, who have different interests and needs. I have two master’s degrees in education. Furthermore, I hold Connecticut teaching certification in Mathematics Education , Grades K-12, as well as Connecticut teaching certifications in Library Media Specialist K-12, World Languages (Chinese) K-12; TESOL K-12; and Elementary Education.

Hello! My name is Zongying Yang. I graduated from East China Normal University in Shanghai with a teaching certification. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching Chinese in Shanghai, Tokyo, and even at a high school here in the United States. Teaching Chinese is my passion! I love working with students, watching them grow, and helping them discover the joy of learning. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my students enjoy every moment in the classroom and leave with new Chinese language skills and big smiles. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy spending time in nature, traveling to new places, and cooking delicious food. I also love watching SF movies for fun and relaxation.

Hi, I am Violet Ma, an educator with over a decade of experience in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, I have dedicated my career to fostering linguistic and cultural understanding among students from diverse backgrounds, ranging from PreK to 8th grade. I am passionate about creating engaging, student-centered learning environments that nurture curiosity, build confidence, and support the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

I earned my degree in History Literature from Qingdao University Normal College in China and began my career teaching history at the middle school level. After relocating to the United States, I transitioned to teaching Chinese as a second language, working in private schools, weekend Chinese schools, and church Sunday programs across Chicago and Connecticut.

My teaching philosophy centers on active participation and motivation. I believe that when students are engaged and inspired, real language learning takes root. In 2012, I organized and conducted a Chinese culture show at KINDI Academy. The event was a great success, generating strong interest and significantly increasing student enrollment in the Chinese language program for the following semester. I love working with students of all ages—it’s both fun and intellectually rewarding. I’m fully committed and prepared to help each learner succeed in their Chinese language journey!

Ms. Peng is currently teaching in an independent school in NY State.  She received her B.A. in International Cultural Communications from Peking University in Beijing, China and her M.S. from Temple University in Philadelphia. She has been a Chinese language teacher for grades K-12 for about 10 years in both New York and Connecticut. 

My name is Yating Zhou,  I have a Bachelor’s degree from China Foreign Languages University. I’ve worked as an experienced Mandarin instructor for many years,  and have done so in a variety of settings, such as public and private schools, after-school programs, and online courses. I enjoy teaching Mandarin immensely, working with students of various ages and English proficiency. I’m all about bringing Chinese culture to life and sparking a love for the language in others. That’s what keeps me going as a dynamic and patient instructor!

My name is Pegg Hwang. I am proud to be a Chinese teacher at CLSC! I am from Taipei, Taiwan. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Business Administration from Tunghai University.

I have plenty of experience working with youth in the Early Child Learning Development Program and tutoring after-school programs since 2007. Then I have been teaching the children Chinese language, children’s nursery songs and culture in my classroom since 2013 at CLSC. It is very interesting and fun to have them learn the Chinese language and culture differently from English in the USA.

I have a true passion for working with our young learners! Helping each child progress in all areas of their development—social, language, and motor. I strive to create a community of learners that nurtures this growth in a positive, fun environment. It is very precious and meaningful to me.

My name is Louisa Lu-Orlow and I am originally from Taiwan. I am a lifelong learner and I am fascinated by many things. I have a B.A. in Biology,  A.S. in Journalism and A.S.S. in Graphic Design. I am also an ACTFL (American Council on the Teaching of a Foreign Language) certified language teacher. My teaching method is inspired by my scientific background, my journalistic training and my graphic design experience in that I try to create a clear and logical presentation to the lessons I teach. I have been teaching Sunday programs in CLSC and after school programs for public middle schools, high school language classes and private tutoring for 6 years.
